Google and Roku are two big brands in the entertainment industry. While Roku is the most bought streaming device of all time, Google owns YouTube, the most streamed video platform of all time. These two have to be integrated with each other, in order to serve their fans better.
Google Play Movies and TV is one of the most downloaded applications on the Roku channel store, and Roku is one of the most downloaded applications on the Google Play Store. To download the Google Play on Roku, and stream TV and your own Google Play videos, you just have to have a Roku account, and a Google account. If you don’t have any of these accounts, here’s how you open one.
How to open a Roku account?
Opening a Roku account is kind of the first step in getting Google play on Roku. Because to download the channel application from the Roku store you will have to have the Roku account credentials to log in to your Roku account.
To open a Roku account, please go to Roku.com
In there, please click on open a new account.
In order to open a new account, you will have fields to fill in the most basic details like your name the second name and your contact details. Please note that this information that you supply will be used by Roku to deduct money from, whenever you make a purchase from your Roku account.
Opening a Google account
Opening a Google account is more or less the same process as opening a Roku account, but just that Google will ask for a lot more details, and will not ask you for your payment information unless you make purchases.
Google’s information will also ask for a contact number, to which an OTP will be sent that you will have to enter in order to create the account. Now that you have both Roku and Google accounts, we are now stepping closer to getting Google Pay on Roku.
Getting Google Play on Roku
This is a fairly simple process as well. All you have to do is to search for the application on the Roku channel store, download and install the application, and then activate it.
- Navigate to the Roku channel store.
- In there, on the Roku search bar, enter the keywords for the channel you wish to download.
- After entering the keywords, please hit enter and search for relevant channels.
- In there, locate Google play moves and TV application and click on the application.
- Once the channel is highlighted, please click on the three dots on the right side of the application name.
- From the dropdown menu, please choose the option to install Google play on Roku device.
Activating Google play on Roku
After the channel is installed, please go and open the channel up. When you open the channel application, if this is your first time opening the application from your account, you will receive an activation code, displayed on your TV screen.
In there, please enter the activation code that was displayed on the TV screen. After you do this, you will be able to access the Google Play on Roku device.
